GloPan Please help get the word out on Fem2.0 campaign on work/life 0 Jan 19 2010, 12:49 AM EST by GloPan

Can Americans Care for Their Families Without Losing Their Jobs?

We work long hours. We work multiple jobs. We can barely afford healthcare, or we’re doing without. We’re stitching together childcare, or we’re sending our kids to school with H1N1. These are work/life issues, and Fem2.0 is conducting the Wake Up, This Is the Reality! campaign to try to reframe the public narrative to reflect how tough it is for Americans and our families so that lawmakers will act on such legislation as paid sick days, healthcare, child and elder care, equal pay, etc.

There are two parts to the campaign:

Work/Life in Our Communities Blog Radio Series: January 25-February 5, 2010

Blog Carnival: February 6-13, 2010

In the first segment of the blog radio series, BlogHer's Elisa Camahort will interview Joan Williams and Heather Boushey about their new report, The Three Faces of Work/Family Conflict, about the impact of work policies on American workers and families at different income levels, revealing the all-too-common, gut-wrenching choices Americans face between being able to care for loved ones and being able to pay the bills.

The rest of the series will look at how work/life impact specific communities, including: men, single women, businesses, and Latino, African-American, LGBT and military families.

Please join the online chats and twittercasts during the blog radio programs. And please help us get the word out. Would the p2 community please tweet about it and post to our various online communities?

Details are here: http://www.fem2pt0.com/2010-wake-up-campaign/#Series

MichaelShatz The homeless... 1 May 4 2009, 11:30 PM EDT by JonPincus
Thread started: May 4 2009, 9:52 PM EDT  Watch
As some of you may already know I started my adult life at 14 years of age as a homeless teen. Today one of my primary goals is to help other homeless people who were not as fortunate as I have been in recent years. I hope to utilize #p2 to achieve this end, as well as participate in helping fight prejudice and poverty in general. Thank you so much for making this such a great group :)
