Brainstorming: how can #p2 help with EFCA?

One obvious way #p2 can help with EFCA is to publicize good information about the relvevant twitter hashtags and accounts. If there's already a good resource page on this available, let's get the word out. If not, let's start creating one.

What else can we do?

It's a brainstorming thread, so please suggest anything you think is likely to be helpful, even if it's wacky or not completely fleshed out. And please try to build on others' ideas rather than tearing them down.

Please discuss!

Are there any existing hash tags that engage union members (not just EFCA activists)? You sometimes see union heads on TV and certainly have politicians who support unions, but almost never will an on the ground union member have their thoughts amplified by any sort of mainstream media outlet.

I think one of the very best ways we could help EFCA is if we work to mitigate this problem. Sadly, I doubt that large proportions of union members are amongst the more tech savvy early adopters of Twitter, but if there are that makes it even more important for us to engage them and welcome them into the community! Furthermore, we could help teach these union members how to use Twitter to the fullest and take advantage of this style of activism.

#p2 is all about diversity, and that definitely applies to classes of people that are marginalized as well. The working class needs help amplifying their individual and collective voices, and as we get more involved with EFCA I think we should focus on utilizing the megaphones of our Twitter feeds to do just that!

Another way I can see the #p2 community helping with EFCA is by trying to spawn synchronous events similar to Join the Impact's prop 8 rallies this past Fall. They held over 300 events with at least one in every state in the country (and a few international to boot), and if we are to fully immerse ourselves in EFCA I think we should try to manage our wiki (or create a new wiki) in a similar fashion.

However, as I understand it, JTI did not have a large Twitter component to those events. This will be very different for us, as much more so than this wiki (at least yet) the potential our people power allots to our Twitter activism should make this a precedent setting project!

Yet if we can swing organizing with such a large scope, I think we need to combine this sort of wiki powered mass organizing with my suggestion above about engaging union members via Twitter. If we do so, we will expand the new media centric on the ground activism model that JTI has spawned and truly represent progressivism 2.0 in action!
